About this listing
Here is a beautiful 1967 Gibson SG Junior in its original Cherry finish, which has aged into a lovely reddish-brown shade over the years. It still retains its original P-90 pickup and period electronics. As biting and responsive as ever. The guitar is fitted with its original Vibrola vibrato. The tuners are vintage pre-1965 Kluson Deluxe Single Line units, most likely installed to replace the original tuners. In the late 1960s, Gibson occasionally used Japanese-made tuners with plastic buttons, mainly on SG models but also on certain acoustics such as the LG-0. These tuners leave a distinctive footprint because of their differently shaped ends, and were generally of inferior quality. Replacing them is therefore not necessarily a bad thing. Personally, I have absolutely no issue with these Kluson Single Line tuners, even if they are not historically correct for a 1967 guitar.Incidentally, you will notice that the serial number is 006000. Gibson serial numbers beginning with 00 correspond to 1967, but it is quite unusual to come across such a perfectly round number. The guitar is in very good overall condition for its age, showing the usual playing marks and minor wear you would expect from an instrument approaching 60 years old, but with no breaks or repairs. The neck is perfectly straight, with an excellent neck angle. Its profile is nicely rounded and very comfortable. The frets still have plenty of life left in them. The guitar is ready to play.Weight: just 2,797 g (6.17 lbs).Comes with a hard case.
