This 2004 Gibson ES-137 Custom is basically what happens when Gibson looked at an ES-335 and said, “What if we made it classier… heavier… shinier… and somehow cooler at the same time?”Finished in a ridiculously rare Candy Apple Red gloss that looks like a freshly dipped caramel apple at a county fair for rich people, this ES-137 CU blends old-school Gibson elegance with just enough attitude to make a blues lawyer accidentally start playing fusion. The Florentine cutaway, split-diamond headstock inlay, bound ebony fretboard, and Custom-style appointments make this thing look less like a guitar and more like something Frank Sinatra would’ve used to negotiate a casino contract.And unlike most semi-hollows that spent the last 20 years marinating in cigarette smoke while somebody unsuccessfully played “Mustang Sally” through a Peavey Bandit… this one is remarkably clean and exceptionally well cared for.Even better? There are some light surface scratches, minor dings, small finish impressions, and normal pickguard swirling as shown in the photos. Overall, it presents beautifully with a clean, glossy appearance and has clearly lived a considerably gentler life than most 20+ year old Gibson semi-hollows.
