Overview
Gibson’s Burstbucker series of humbuckers are clones of the original Gibson PAF design in a variety of flavors. The Burstbucker Type 1 has the lowest output and is traditionally used in the neck position, the Burstbucker Type 2 has a medium output, and the Type 3 is overwound and most frequently found in the bridge position. All of the “Type” Burstbuckers are unpotted, two conductor pickups, with Alnico II magnets. The Burstbucker Pro is a modern, hotter interpretation of the PAF design, and uses an Alnico V magnet, along with 4-conductor wiring to allow for coil tapping. The Burstbucker Pro comes in a Neck and Bridge position.
