Ibanez JEM777DY Desert Yellow – 1988 First Generation Steve Vai Signature – Disappearing Pyramid Inlays – Original Pink Logo Ibanez Case
For sale is my legendary Ibanez JEM777DY Desert Yellow, made in Japan at the Fujigen factory in 1988.
A genuine first-generation JEM777 from the golden era of Japanese Ibanez production.
This is the original. Not a reissue, not a later interpretation — a true late 80s Steve Vai signature model from the period that created the JEM legacy.
One of the standout features of the early JEM777 models is the iconic Disappearing Pyramid maple fingerboard. Exclusive to these original-style JEMs, the pyramid inlays fade progressively along the neck and have become one of the most recognisable and desirable details of the earliest Vai signature guitars.
Combined with the Desert Yellow finish, pink pickups, green details and matching pink logo case, this is one of the most outrageous and instantly recognisable guitars Ibanez ever released.
The guitar is now almost 40 years old and tells its story honestly.
The body has signs of use, including dings, marks and cosmetic blemishes collected over decades of playing. This is a well-loved, well-played example of a genuine vintage JEM — exactly what these guitars were built for.
The neck is the reason these early Fujigen guitars have their reputation. Fast, comfortable and unmistakably late-80s Ibanez.
