2007 Fender HMG-69KC SBL Kurt Cobain Mustang Ikebe Mod Super Rare CIJ

This is a Fender Japan HMG-69KC, one of the rarest Kurt Cobain-inspired Fender Japan models ever produced. (The original warranty card lists the model as HMG-69-72KC.) It carries a Crafted in Japan S0 serial number, indicating production around 2006–2008, and the original warranty card confirms it was sold new by Ikebe Gakki in 2007.

The HMG-69KC was a small-run Ikebe Gakki shop-order model based on the standard MG69-72 Mustang. Ikebe modified a limited number of guitars to create a Kurt Cobain-inspired specification. Like the equally rare HJG (Jaguar) series, it was produced as a tribute to Kurt Cobain's iconic guitars.

Based on the MG69 platform, it features a Basswood body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, and a 24-inch short scale. The bridge position is equipped with a DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker, paired with a Tune-O-Matic bridge, recreating the distinctive configuration associated with Kurt Cobain.

Very little information about this model remains today, either in Japan or overseas, and documented sales history is exceptionally scarce. According to the previous owner, this guitar was purchased brand new from Ikebe Gakki in 2007 and has been carefully preserved ever since.

Finding an HMG-69KC today is extraordinarily difficult. Whether you are a Kurt Cobain, Nirvana, or Fender Japan collector, this is a genuine collector-grade piece that rarely becomes available for sale.

Although the guitar is approximately 19 years old, it remains in excellent overall condition with no major or noticeable damage. There are some minor scratches, light signs of wear, and pick marks on the pickguard consistent with normal use over the years.

Before being listed for sale, it was professionally serviced by a qualified guitar technician, including a new nut installation, fret leveling and dressing, complete setup, and thorough cleaning, and it is in excellent playing condition.

It comes with a non-original hard case, tremolo arm, and the original warranty card, an exceptionally valuable piece of documentation that helps verify the history of this extremely rare shop-order model.
