1939 The Martin Committee Handcraft / 1st `transitional ` version of Committee Handcraft with GOLDBRASS bell !!
serial # 132xxx
One of the rarest Martin Committee models, produced for only a few months in 1939. All parts are original . A beautiful Lifton case . Besides its excellent musical qualities, it is also a very good investment.
We have never seen a 1st version of Committee with goldbrass bell !!
Legions of jazz trumpeters consider the Martin Committee a vital addition to any serious horn collection. Dizzy Gillespie's first upward-bent bell was on a Committee. Miles Davis played one all his life. Chris Botti has compared his acquisition of an early one to finding a rare Jaguar or Porsche. Chet Baker, Art Farmer, Maynard Ferguson, Al Hirt, "Blue" Mitchell, Red Rodney, Clark Terry ... all those cats wielded a Committee for all or part of their career.
