2007 Alegre Concert Ukulele | Acacia, Ebony & Mother-of-Pearl/Abalone | Purchased in Cebu

Handcrafted Alegre concert ukulele made in Cebu, Philippines, and dated June 13, 2007.

I purchased this instrument directly from Alegre in Cebu in 2008. I was told that it had been made as Fernando Alegre’s personal instrument. I have contacted Alegre and sent photographs to ask whether they can confirm its history.

The ukulele features an acacia body, ebony or mahogany wood details and mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay Including a sweet pineapple. The back has attractive bookmatched grain, and the instrument has been carefully kept since purchase.

The current Gotoh geared tuners were installed later and and newly restrung.

Condition

Excellent pre-owned condition for an instrument nearly twenty years old. The seams are closed and stable. There is a small area at the lower end joint that has been present since the instrument was purchased and has not changed. Please review the detailed photographs.

The instrument has normal minor signs of age and ownership. No known structural repairs.

I was told at the time of purchase that this was Fernando Alegre’s personal instrument. Confirmation from Alegre is currently pending, so this information is presented as the history provided when the instrument was purchased rather than as independently verified provenance.
