NAD 218 THX late 90s - Dark Grey

Up for sale is the legendary NAD 218 THX, a true powerhouse capable of delivering massive current reserves. The unit functions perfectly and is sold as shown in the photos. Given its age, it shows a few minor cosmetic scratches, but overall it is in excellent condition. In 2023, the bias current was calibrated according to the official service manual. All manuals are included, including the service manual with the schematics.

The technical specifications state 225W per channel into 8 Ohms, but in practice, it drives even demanding loads with ease – it was used successfully with large Magnepan electrostatic panels. The sound is not as refined in the highs as hi-end electronics like Mark Levinson or Pass, but it offers much more than just brute power: rich mids, deep and controlled bass, and a musical, engaging character. At this price point, it is difficult to find this much power with a similar level of musicality. Efficient and stable under load, it remains cool even when pushed hard.

It is not as small or lightweight as modern Class D amplifiers, but it is light-years ahead of their "plastic" sound.
