My beloved Alice Stancoil 828 Mixer from I think the early 80's or late 70's. I had 4 of these 828 mixers and this is the one I kept - something about it just sounded beautiful and a step above the others - the mic pre's were richer and mixes just sounded superb - especially when run into the sublime mixbus limiter - which is mix gold and out performs a whole bunch of dedicated bus comps hands down. It's bloody amazing. I've tracked drums / guitars and natch vocals through the belclere transformers then into the limiter - usually just adding a touch of low end and air (sometimes cutting a tad of mids) - and voila - everything is mix ready. The eq is broad strokes and sweet - but with this mixer that's all you need. To this day there are audio engineers that swear by mixing drums through these consoles - and I've made money running "Home" mixes through it - adding a tad of transformer saturation and a kiss of limiting .. and that's all the clients wanted, a bit of analog sweetening and 3d to set the mix properly. And yes - there are 8 vintage Belcelere transformers in this mixer - one per channel, and yep - each channel has an insert which can be used as an individual output - so you get 8 individual transformers driven mic preamps with eq. And lovely preamps they are.
Feeling a bit sad about letting him go, but I have made my money from this chap, I'm not going to build another studio - and some young engineer should be using it to make shekels instead of it looking lovely on my shelf.
I don't think there's another one with this spec on the hinternet - so grab him while you can.
All working fine and sounding wonderful - some of the pots are a lil bit scratchy when turned but nothing nasty - and I'll service the desk with faderlube before shipping. I was lucky enough to buy 5 of the RareAsHensTeeth gain pots from the Alice creator Ted Fletcher 15 years ago - this desk doesn't need them - but they will be included in the sale.
Here you go then my mixing brethren.
