Dry and controlled 18" Paiste 404 Crash from German production with strong natural patina on the top side and a much cleaner underside.

The 404 series was produced from 1978 to 1986. Serial number 233028 places this cymbal in the early to mid 1980s production period.

At 1280g this example is slightly heavier than the known Paiste Wiki samples for the 18" 404 Crash. Combined with the strong top side patina, it gives this cymbal a drier, more compact and more controlled voice than many standard 404 crashes.

It opens quickly, but does not spread into a long glassy B8 wash. The attack stays clear, the sustain remains controlled and the darker patina keeps the cymbal more focused than expected from a Paiste B8 crash.

A very usable vintage Paiste crash for players who want the direct response of the 404 series with a drier and more characterful sound.
