Status S2000 Headless – 1986 – Transparent Red Carbon Fiber – Early Serial #125 – Vintage Graphite Icon
Up for sale is an exceptionally rare early Status S2000 (Serial #125, 1986) finished in a stunning Transparent Red carbon fiber tint — a true vintage piece from the golden era of Status Graphite.
This is the real deal: a full carbon fiber / graphite bass (body + neck in one piece) with the desirable fat neck profile, delivering the unmistakable Status feel and tone. Early S2000 models like this are highly collectible and rarely come up for sale, especially in this configuration and condition.
Built from one-piece moulded graphite, these instruments are known for their extreme stability, massive sustain, and ultra-articulate hi-fi tone, with zero dead spots and virtually no sensitivity to climate or humidity. It’s a design that was far ahead of its time — and still competes with modern high-end basses today.
This particular bass plays exactly as it should — effortlessly and incredibly responsive, truly “plays like a dream” as often described with these early models.
Cosmetically, it is in excellent vintage condition. There is one small chip on the back (visible in photos), but aside from that only light, honest playwear consistent with a nearly 40-year-old instrument. Fully functional and professionally maintained.
Finished in Transparent Red over carbon fiber, this bass has that unmistakable woven graphite look with a deep red tint — a highly desirable and much rarer finish compared to standard black carbon models.
The bass comes with a flight case, ready for safe transport or touring.
