Are you a true Les Paul guitar fan who feels the passion of that era's Japanese vintage guitars, striving to surpass the original? Are you searching for the ultimate Les Paul model, uncompromising in looks, sound, and historical background?
Pursuing the ideal Japanese Burst is no easy task. High-quality wood, a finish that evokes the spirit of the time, and the pickups—the heart of the instrument—all fused together in perfect balance. Finding such a guitar is a once-in-a-lifetime hurdle.
This time, we introduce the Tokai LS-200, a gem that the consignee declared a Japanese treasure, assembled with extraordinary passion in pursuit of the ultimate Japanese Burst.
The supreme wood materials and looks feature a luxurious solid wood top with a cashew finish that exudes a unique depth and luster. The binding, distinctly more yellowish than the LS-150 and below, and the dignified gold Tokai logo radiate the aura of a top-of-the-line model. This guitar features a Greco DRY-Z pickup, a highly coveted item among Japanese vintage guitar enthusiasts.
The front pickup is mounted in the reverse direction, a detail stemming from the difference in construction between Tokai guitars of the time (which used long drills to create wiring holes, similar to Gibson) and Greco guitars (which used routers to create the wiring paths). Therefore, the Greco pickup could only be installed in this reversed orientation. This detail, showcasing Tokai's commitment to authentic Gibson manufacturing methods, is a fascinating point for enthusiasts.
The tuners, tailpiece, and assembly have been replaced, resulting in upgrades focused on both practicality and sound.
This LS-200 represents a miraculous fusion of Tokai's craftsmanship and the consignor's passion for Japanese Burst guitars. Modified guitars with such a rich background and compelling story are rarely seen on the market. This is a one-of-a-kind instrument, made possible through a consignment arrangement. Experience this Japanese treasure for yourself.
