With Andy Timmons, everything starts with tone and touch. First gaining recognition with Danger Danger before becoming a benchmark for expressive playing, he has always pursued an instrument capable of faithfully translating every nuance. The Ibanez AT10P follows that exact philosophy: far more than just a signature model, it is the result of years of refinement—a guitar designed to make every note sing with accuracy, fluidity, and emotion.
The 2013 model represents the first production run, which gives it a particularly special aura today. There is a sense of raw authenticity here, as if the instrument remains as close as possible to Timmons’ original vision. That vision is rooted in a very specific story: his heavily modified RG from the late ’80s, shaped over time into the perfect tool for his playing. While more recent models like the Ibanez ATZ introduce modern updates, the AT10P stays deeply faithful to that original foundation. This is precisely why many purists and Timmons fans continue to favor it.
From the very first moment you pick it up, the difference is clear. The neck, intentionally thicker than typical Ibanez profiles, provides an immediate sense of comfort and control. It isn’t about speed for the sake of speed, but about precision, vibrato accuracy, and expressive nuance. Paired with a highly resonant alder body, the instrument feels incredibly cohesive, with every element working in perfect harmony.
Plugged in, the guitar fully reveals its character. The DiMarzio pickups deliver an exceptionally balanced tonal range, with a bridge pickup that sings with clarity and presence without ever becoming harsh, and intermediate positions that offer remarkable transparency. There’s that signature, almost vocal quality that allows seamless transitions from sparkling cleans to fluid, saturated lead tones without losing definition. This is a guitar that respects the player’s touch and translates it with impressive fidelity.
The Wilkinson tremolo completes the package with excellent stability and smooth response. It allows for subtle expression as well as more pronounced movement, always maintaining solid tuning. Once again, everything here is designed in service of musicality above all else.
Produced from 2013 until its discontinuation in 2020, the AT10P was eventually replaced by the Ibanez ATZ. Yet rather than fading away, it has earned a distinct and lasting reputation. Many consider it the most faithful representation of Timmons’ original concept, capturing the perfect balance between vintage heritage and modern performance.
In the end, the AT10P is far more than just another signature model. It is a deeply inspired instrument, built for demanding players, and one that truly excels at turning intention into music. A sincere, expressive, and incredibly inspiring guitar.
