This is a mid 60’s Hofner 500/6 Verythin model bass. Seems to be rare as these don’t come up for sale often especially in the U.S. and even more rare is the Red Burst color with some paint checking expected of a vintage instrument. German made and the same brand Paul McCartney was famous for using with the Beatles. The only thing non original as far as I can tell is the tuners but these get the job done and could always be swapped out easily. It just came back from the local guitar shop with a clean bill of health as well. Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard, 30” scale length, 7.25” radius board, C- Shape neck, all original electronics.

There is a hole drilled into the headstock by the original store that sold this in the 60’s/70’s. Apparently the man who owned the music store drilled holes in all the instruments he had for sale and hung them on the wall using a screw, this is the 3rd local instrument I’ve come across from that same store that also has a hole in the headstock. I decided to leave it up to the next owner whether or not to have that filled, makes for a funny story and doesn’t affect the guitar playability or sound. It sounds great! This will come with a softshell case and be packaged properly.
