This band-number alarm clock from 1974 is housed in a white plastic case with a tilted, black front panel. The speaker is located on top of the radio.

What's special about this radio alarm clock? The time is displayed neither with flip numerals nor actual LED numbers, but with "band numbers":

The LED-style numerals run on film-reel-like tapes with a perforated edge serving as a transport mechanism and are backlit. With this little trick, GRUNDIG creates the illusion of "real" LED numerals, especially in the dark.

Since the band numbers only count 12 hours, an extra window on the far left symbolically indicates whether white = day or orange = night. This is important for the alarm time, which also has a white and orange area. It also makes a difference whether the alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.

It's not just the clock's mechanics that are unusual. All the other controls on this Sono-Clock 10 radio alarm clock are also quite idiosyncratic:
A vertical lever next to the clock display turns the radio on and – depending on how far the lever is moved – automatically turns it off again after a certain amount of time. This "snooze function" can be set for up to 120 minutes.

The volume is controlled by a vertical lever on the radio's control panel.

The radio doesn't have a conventional station search button, but rather six station buttons, which can be preset to four FM and two AM radio stations and then instantly tuned in at any time.

Wake up with radio or alarm: In the "Auto" position, you'll be woken up by the radio. In the "Alarm" position, a loud rattling and clattering sound is added.

Visually 9/10.
