This is the XXL Distortion Pedal, that Tech21 NYC call the „Original“ version on their website. The serial number is quite low, but I can’t find the exact date for it.

The versatility of this pedal is pretty unbelievable. You can drastically switch styles with the turn of one button and the sound is phenomenal.

You can see, that it had a good life but it is far from retirement, in it’s good working condition.

The XXL’s Warp control manipulates the structure and balance of odd and even harmonics, and influences the X-Factor™: the ratio of odd and even harmonics relative to the dynamics of your instrument and your playing style. You can achieve a variety of results, even within the same setting,depending on the manner and force of your pick attack. For instance, playing open and loose with Warp at max willyield a vintage fuzz tone. The same setting, when played in a tight, controlled manner, will yield more of a “woman tone.” With the XXL, it’s not just what you play, it’s how you play it.

The median point of Warp yields traditional distortion, well suited for chords and rhythm parts. Extreme settings work particularly well with individual notes making them smoother, fatter, thicker and juicier. At minimum settings there are higher amounts of even harmonics, producing an overdrive like that of a Class A tube amp.
