Next to the Goldtop, the Les Paul Custom is the most chic version of the Les Paul and rightly bears the nickname: Black Beauty. This 1972 Les Paul Custom is also an incredibly beautiful appearance and one in very good condition.
Another nickname for this model is the 'Fretless Wonder' and this guitar still has those original frets! The neck also further stands out for its one-piece construction, while most guitars from this era have a 3-piece neck. And the pickup covers also make this guitar a rare find. You rarely come across these 'embossed' pickup covers because Gibson only used them from about 1971 to 1973.
Typical '70s features are the three-piece 'pancake' body with maple top and the volute. In addition, the potentiometers date from 1971. As befits a true vintage guitar, it has aged nicely and the signs of use show that it has been well used, but certainly not abused!
This extraordinary 1972 Les Paul Custom travels in a hardshell case with TFOA passport.
