This one takes inspiration from a classic instrument used by one of the greatest bassists in rock history. The Ampeg AMVB-1 has a few eye catching features, but the most obvious are the through body f-holes. I’ve made them even bigger, and sized and shaped them to fit the contours of my Ysabel body.
On the fretless Ysabel, I’ve used a Serek B90 for a super warm neck tone, and TV jones thunderblade for a little more power in the bridge.
The body is a single piece of local ash. It was dyed black, and sanded black before a red color was applied to the top and back. It has a three piece cherry neck with a Pau Ferro board.
A veneer line designates the position of each note on the fretboard, with lumilay markers helping you find them on a dark stage.
