Third-version Big Muff with op-amp circuit, circa 1978. Comes with the rare original box.
The very early third-version units of early 1977, transitioning from the second-version Ram's Head, used a discrete circuit with an ON-OFF switch, but from late 1977 to around 1979 the circuit adopted op-amp ICs and a TONE-BYPASS switch replaced the ON-OFF switch. Model numbers include EH-3003, carried over from the Ram's Head era, and EH1322, unique to the third version. Around 1980 it changed to the EH3034 with a discrete circuit again, and the knobs changed from chicken-head to round types.
Although a fuzz, it also offers distortion-leaning drive. The crunchy, compressed attack is classic fuzz. The TONE control sweeps from low-pass to high-pass, from dry, bright tones to boomy, bass-heavy tones. The sound is superb: for thick, powerful fuzz, this is the model.
Op-amp ICs: RC4558NB, UA741TC
Era: 1978
Accessories: box
Staff: Sano
Warranty: 1 month from date of purchase.
