Gretsch G6128TSP Duo Jet 2004 Made in Japan JD04 Serial – Early FMIC Era, DynaSonic, Bigsby, 1957-Style Black Jet, Excellent Original Condition

For sale is a beautifully preserved 2004 Gretsch G6128TSP Duo Jet, made in Japan, serial number JD04090938.

This is not just another modern Duo Jet. This is an early FMIC-era Japanese-made Gretsch from a very interesting period in the brand’s modern history, when Gretsch was being re-established with a stronger focus on vintage-inspired design, classic specifications, and high-quality Japanese craftsmanship.

The G6128TSP is a highly appealing Duo Jet variant with a strong 1957-style character: black top finish, DynaSonic single-coil pickups, Bigsby vibrato, classic Gretsch appointments, and the unmistakable look and feel of a vintage-inspired Duo Jet.

It is not an official George Harrison Signature model, but the configuration strongly evokes the legendary 1957 Duo Jet associated with early Beatles-era Gretsch tones. For players and collectors who appreciate the guitar itself rather than simply a signature label, this model has a very special appeal.

This example remains in excellent original condition. The neck is straight, the frets show very little wear and appear close to full life, and the electronics function properly. The guitar has been stable in tuning and feels exceptionally solid for a 20-year-old instrument.

It has the lively, articulate, percussive response that makes DynaSonic-equipped Jets so distinctive, with enough clarity for clean tones and enough bite for rockabilly, early rock and roll, blues, indie, and Beatles-inspired sounds.

One particularly notable detail is the condition. The original protective film is still present on some plastic parts, including the rear back plate and truss rod cover. That is rarely seen on a guitar of this age and gives this instrument an unusually well-preserved, collector-grade feel.

The back of the headstock is marked “JD04090938 / MADE IN JAPAN.” JD-serial Gretsch guitars are generally understood to be Japanese-made instruments from this era, and this example represents the type of build quality that has made early-2000s Japanese Gretsch Professional Series guitars increasingly appreciated by players and collectors.
