Headway HD-207 D-41 Style model Momose Era MIJ Japan

About This item and Sound
The Headway HD-207 is inspired by the materials and styling of the Martin D-41, featuring a solid spruce top crafted from carefully selected tonewoods.
Rosewood is used for the fingerboard and bridge, and the instrument is beautifully appointed with genuine pearl position markers, reflecting the maker’s uncompromising attention to detail.

Built with Headway’s refined craftsmanship, this model offers an excellent balance of powerful bass, clear treble, and impressive volume.
For fingerstyle playing, the responsive solid spruce top produces a fast, articulate, and sparkling tone, perfectly complemented by the tight and focused midrange of the rosewood body. The defined low end is reminiscent of high-grade vintage instruments, giving the guitar a rich and expressive voice.

When played with a pick, the bright and clear character of the rosewood body naturally sits well in a mix, delivering a dynamic and musical rhythm tone. It offers a refined yet powerful sound that is rarely found on a D-45—capturing the true character of the D-41 style.

Whether on stage or in the studio, this guitar delivers a refined, articulate tone with enough power and presence to stand out in any setting.

【 About "HEADWAY"
Headway Inc. was founded in 1977 in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan, with Momose, one of Japan's leading luthiers, as technical director. To launch Headway, they purchased a Martin:D-28 in the US for 1 million yen (about $11,500 today), disassembled it, and studied it thoroughly. Initially, guitar production started with three people, but Momose initially produced all of the necks for Headway's original acoustic guitars.
The “Original Headway” was manufactured from 1977 to 1983, and at that time, Headway was considered to be the pinnacle of Japanese-made guitars. It is said that only about 5,000 “Original Headway” brand guitars were produced between 1977 and 1983.
In 1983, the factory and materials were destroyed by arson twice. Acoustic guitar production ceased (in 1999, high-quality acoustic guitar materials became available and a New Headway was born again).

The overall condition of the instrument is good.

There are some traces of past usage and aging, including dents.
