The Martin Super D-18 takes the legendary Martin D-18 formula and gives it more room to breathe—literally. Built with Martin’s oversized Super D body, this guitar has about 20% more internal air volume than a traditional dreadnought, with a 16.375" lower bout compared to the standard 15.625". The result is noticeably greater projection, deeper bass response, and a wider dynamic range, while still delivering the punchy clarity and woody midrange the D-18 is famous for.
The tonewood recipe stays true to the classic: a Sitka spruce top paired with genuine mahogany back and sides, supported by forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing for excellent responsiveness and headroom. Whether you’re driving bluegrass runs or strumming big open chords, the Super D-18 keeps the focused, articulate D-18 voice—just with more power and depth behind every note.
A GE Modified Low Oval neck, ebony fingerboard, and open-gear tuners keep the feel fast and traditional.
