The PRS SE Custom 24 Floyd Rose 30th Anniversary LTD – Santana Yellow (2015) is one of those PRSs you take out of the case and instantly think: okay… stage. Beautiful top, a flat, fast neck, that Floyd feel — and after our fretwork it plays exactly the way you want it to.
What immediately sticks with you on this SE Custom 24 is the gorgeous figured maple veneer — transparent Santana Yellow, simply stunning. This is a rare limited anniversary model, and you can tell: nothing feels “cheap” here — not the build, not the overall package.
The neck is nicely flat — a really well-done C profile. It sits perfectly in the hand and still looks almost new: hardly any scratches, hardly any dings. And that Santana Yellow is the perfect mix of subtle and loud — classy, but definitely a head-turner as soon as the light hits it.
Factory fretwork was fine and it was probably mostly a living-room guitar — but the frets had light wear already. So we jumped in: frets leveled, polished, and a complete setup. Now it plays like a dream — clean, fast, PRS-typical “slick”.
The Floyd Rose also got an upgrade that I genuinely love: a pop-in arm instead of the old threaded collar nut. No more fiddling, no more worn threads that never lock right — you set the tension exactly how you like it, and for packing up the arm is out in two seconds.
Pickups are the original PRS HFS & Vintage Bass humbuckers with coil split — that’s the exact combo used on this LTD model, and yes: they deliver. From bitey and punchy to genuinely usable split tones, it’s all in there. In short: a modern PRS with character, comfort and Floyd feel — for stage, studio, or sofa.
