IKKO MASADA / 2020 GA
Ikko Masada is a luthier with a workshop in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture.
He studied theory and techniques at the prestigious Robert Benn School of Luthiering in the United States, and after returning to Japan, he worked in mass production at Morris, mastering the realities of quality and reproducibility.
He then established his own workshop and has consistently maintained a production style in which he handles everything himself, from design to woodworking, painting, and final adjustments.
Perfection over efficiency, the player over trends. This attitude is reflected directly in the texture of his sound.
While this GA cutaway model's maximum body width is wider than a dreadnought, the slightly narrowed waist creates an original shape that balances tonal balance and provides a comfortable fit during playing.
Once you play, the rich volume and deep body vibrations firmly support the space.
And yet, the sound is not heavy, and its contours are crystal clear. In fingerstyle playing, the bass serves as the foundation, allowing the melody to emerge naturally, and in lead playing, each note comes forward in three dimensions.
It also gives the feeling that the player's intentions are directly translated into the sound.
This is perhaps a realm only achievable with a luthier guitar, where you can adjust everything yourself, from wood selection to bracing carving and paint thickness.
The body with a Florentine cutaway allows easy reach to the high frets, greatly expanding the freedom of solo playing.
Visually, it combines sharpness and luxury, highlighting the presence of the high-quality wood used in the sides and back.
The maple binding and rosette add to the subtle yet elegant presence.
The purity of sound and sharp response are simply unmatched by mass-produced guitars.
Masada Kazumitsu's GA Cutaway is not a guitar that evaluates your performance; it's an instrument that reflects your emotions.
