Up for sale is a Harmony Model 1215 archtop acoustic guitar believed to date to the fall of 1936.

Built during Harmony's early Chicago production years, this is a genuine pre-war American archtop that has survived nearly ninety years and still retains the character and charm that make these old instruments so appealing. While Harmony produced thousands of instruments throughout the twentieth century, examples from this era are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially those that remain complete and playable.

The guitar features a traditional sunburst finish, floating bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and classic f-hole archtop construction. Tonally it delivers exactly what many players hope for from an old American archtop—dry, woody, and punchy with excellent midrange response. It works particularly well for blues, ragtime, old-time music, folk accompaniment, and vintage jazz styles.

We recently cleaned the instrument and gave it a basic setup. It remains an enjoyable player and has a tremendous amount of vintage character both visually and sonically.

Condition is fair overall and reflects a lifetime of honest use. As expected from an instrument approaching ninety years old, there are numerous cosmetic imperfections throughout including finish wear, scratches, dings, edge wear, checking, and various signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form an important part of the description.

There is a good amount of relief in the neck that will only be repairable if you use something like a heat press. There is also a gap between the body and the neck heel.
