This lady has been played, and you can see it on the fingerboard and a few dings on the headstock and pickguard. The body finish is in excellent condition, and the back of the neck has been satin-sanded – feels fantastic in the hand!

We leveled the frets as much as possible – next time, a refret will be due. She also received a new bone nut. The guitar sounds wonderfully warm, open, and full of soul – and in her current setup, she’s ready to give you many more hours of joy. She plays incredibly light and direct.

We gave her a full setup, and the result is perfect playability and a smooth, rounded feel. The neck sits comfortably in the hand – a slightly slim 60s C-profile, which is quite rare on the early China DOTs. She likely comes from the very first years of the Qingdao DOT production.

The original Epiphone 57 humbuckers sound warm, punchy, and balanced. The neck pickup in particular sings beautifully when pushed into light breakup. The electronics scratch a little – if you plan to make her your main guitar, a new set of pots might be a good upgrade.

Bottom line:
A semi-hollow with soul and character – an honest workhorse that screams for stage lights and blues. 🎶 A guitar with history and heart, and an instrument that truly brings joy. 😎

The labor that went into her would normally not be “worth it” – but the moment we played her, we knew she wasn’t meant to die or hang on a wall as decoration.
