Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a older and very rare 1920's / 30's era microphone floor stand built in the U.S.A but I am unaware of the brand of this stand as it's so early and I just don't have any catalogs that are pre 1940. This unique floor stand has a painted cast iron base with a brass base cover and dual brass risers with a rarer chrome plated adapter that allows you to mount any microphone or mic clip on top as well as many carbon mic rings.
I have never seen this particular model before and I've been doing this a while. I know that many of the very early desk and floor stands were often made of brass and many didn't come with chrome plating. The chrome plated desk and floor stands became much more popular in the 1930's and later do I'm going to assume that this is a 1920's era stand.
As where most floor stands had a 10 inch wide base...this one has a 9 inch wide base. The risers are also much slimmer than a standard later style floor stand. Everything about this flor stand is very unique.
There are no obvious markings other than a # 3 on the bottom of the base so again, I have no idea who the actual manufacturer is? I can tell you that it work perfectly. Again, the adapter on top of the top riser allows you to mount any screw on type mic with the universal 5/8 X 27 thread. The adapter tilts in a 360 direction as you can see with the Shure carbon mic I used as an example in pics # 3, 4 & 5. many older carbon rings will work with this stand as well.
The top riser is adjustable giving you a top height of 64 inches to a low of 38 inches depending on your needs. The stand weighs about 10 pounds.
You can see that the brass risers are in great shape with typical patina. They are quite beautiful and free of any dents dings or fractures. The brass base cover has a heavier patina but it too is free of any dents or dings and covers the cast iron base. It has a small hole where a cable could exit out of if needed.
There was never any felt or rubber pads on the base.
Again, this stand will accept any screw on mic or mic clip you have.
Overall this stand is an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. I'm very picky though. Others would probably find it much nicer. A real conversation piece and if you need something that's an actual antique being roughly 100 years old...this is your stand. I doubt I'll ever come across another one of these again. Just that rare.
