Derek Pellicci, Little River Band, Yamaha - RC392 Recording Custom 7-Piece Set, with Hardware and Cases! 1994 - Stage White Lacquer.
Derek Allan "Beeb" Pellicci was the founding drummer of Little River Band in 1975. He anchored the band’s rhythm section during their most successful years, driving hits like Reminiscing, Lonesome Loser, Cool Change and Help Is on the Way to the top of the charts all over the world. His style blended rock-solid timekeeping with a light, musical touch, well-suited to LRB’s blend of soft rock, pop, and jazz-influenced arrangements.
Derek Pellicci’s chose this Yamaha RC-392 White Recording Custom Set in 1994. The sets combination of focused punch, state of the art hardware and gleaming great looks made it the perfect choice for a the hard working band with the highest of standards.
Derek played this set in live performances and recordings with The Little River Band from 1994 through 2001.
See and hear this set in the attached video of the band's 1997 performance on the Today Show.
These drums remain in surprisingly great condition for their age and the miles they clocked during seven years of steadily touring the world's biggest venues and concert stages. The original "Stage White" lacquer finish has gracefully aged to a great looking shade of ivory. The shells show only a few minor scuffs and nicks. The beautiful red stain interiors look brand new. The chrome is still gleaming and rust free. The condition of these drums is a testament to the quality of Yamaha finishes and the expert care of The Little River Band's road crew.
The set is constructed from 6 ply North American Birch shells finished on the outside in white lacquer and stain on the inside. The set includes a 22"x14" bass drum, 16"x16" floor tom, 14"x10", 13"x9", 12"x8" and 10"x7" mounted toms and a 14x5.5" Chrome Snare.
The set includes Derek's complete set of beautifully matched Sabian cymbals that include 14" Fusion Hats, 12" HH Splash, 16" AA Medium China, 16" AA Medium Crash, 18" AA Medium Crash, and 21" AA Medium Ride. The hi-hat cymbals are decorated with a hand drawn "Banana Man" graphic. After a little research I learned Derek earned the nickname of "Banana Man" in reference to his favorite pair of "Banana Hammock" swim trunks!
Ironically, Derek's touring cases include several cases stenciled "Little River Band" as well as cases stenciled with a couple of Yamaha's other top endorsers at the time, Terri Lynne Carrington and Gary Husbands.
Following the bands 2001 tour Derek gave the set to the band's longtime road manager, Terry Finley who kept them set up in his Oregon home for the last 24 years. His recent downsizing has given this set a chance to get back on the road and start making legendary music again.
