*This is the one we used in our YouTube video. Gaff tape pulled the sticker off of the back of the pedal. You will get the sticker scrap*
The JHS 424 Gain Stage captures the lo-fi magic of plugging straight into a TASCAM® Portastudio® 424—now in pedal form. Inspired by iconic recordings from artists like Mk.gee, Mac DeMarco, Omar Apollo, and Spoon, it delivers that unmistakable blend of rubbery clean tones, gooey saturation, and smashed-out fuzz.
Built with the original 424 MKI circuitry and vintage op-amps (UPC4570 & NJM4565), this pedal gives you full control with Trim, Channel, and Master gain stages plus EQ shaping. It’s perfect for DI tones or as a front-end preamp to your amp or pedalboard.
Use it as a gritty boost, a colorful overdrive, or push it into wild, broken fuzz territory. Whether you’re recording direct or playing live, the 424 Gain Stage brings bedroom pop character and tape-era warmth to any setup.
