Hate to do it, but this economy... 😄
This is one of my favorite old MIJ acoustics. If you haven't heard of Dorado guitars, they were a typically very well made brand of Japanese acoustics and electrics (mostly based on Martin and Gibson designs). They came out of the Matsumoko (Matsumoto Mokko) factory and were imported by Gretsch to be their value guitar during the MIJ boom.
AFAIK, the 5990 was made from 1971-1973. I think this is an early one, because it still has the Gibson style headstock, which had to be changed after the first run and has the dot pearl inlays (which were later block). All original down to the screws. The dimensions are very similar to a D18 or a Dove. This guitar is ladder braced, solid spruce top, cherry-stained mahogany back and sides. 70's style adjustable saddle, adjustable truss, nickel hardware, real pearl and MOP appointments, double binding, etc.
All around, just a beautiful player with great projection, a lot of shimmer and good balance. Medium action. Excellent intonation. No real damage aside from some minor scratches and dings. There is a visible scratch in the top, but it's not through the clearcoat and could be buffed if desired.
