With the Fender Bob Bain “Son of a Gunn” Telecaster the Fender Custom Shop presented in 2017 an authentic replica of the guitar, with which Bob Bain shaped the soundtrack of American pop culture. From the legendary “Peter Gunn” and “Mission Impossible” themes to sessions with Frank Sinatra and Quincy Jones to the “Tonight Show” band, Bob Bain recorded countless songs on his heavily modified Tele. Accordingly this “Son of a Gunn” also features an ash body and a bolt-on maple neck in the “'53 Soft V” profile, while a Seymour Duncan “SH-1n 59” humbucker on the neck and a Fender “51 Nocaster” singlecoil on the bridge provide a wide range of sounds. The tonal possibilities are rounded off by a smooth-running and detune-free Bigsby B16 vibrato system. The singlecoil delivers direct, punchy and twangy sounds with a super attack and the wonderful bluesy Seymour Duncan sings for all it's worth, but always remains superbly differentiated. The playability of the guitar is extremely comfortable thanks to the pleasant “‘53 Soft V” neck profile and the 7.25’' fingerboard radius, which only makes the listening experience even more attractive. Masterbuilder Paul Waller has of course also perfectly replicated the look of the original guitar down to the smallest detail and so this fantastic Blackguard comes with numerous traces of aging in exactly the right places. And as the final icing on the cake this exclusive Telecaster, which was produced in a limited edition of just 30 specimens, will also delight its future owner, who will thus acquire an extremely soundmighty top player with phenomenal looks and the best possible value retention, thanks to its absolute collector's condition.
