For your consideration is an early 1980's production Ovation Adamas II 1681-9 acoustic / electric guitar with the original Ovation case included.

A favorite of the 1980's, the Ovation Adamas guitars are among some of the most sought after guitars of their time for their craftsmanship and their sound quality. This guitar has both of these covered! Due to inconsistencies reported in the serial number system at the time, we are unable to exactly predict the production year. But, we believe this was part of the first productions of the Adamas 2 lineup which happened in 1981-1984. This is backed up by the use of the stereo output jacks and the wood knobs for the electronic controls.

According to the information available from the Ovation Tribute website, the numbering system tells us several details about the guitar. The first digit is always a "1" and doesn't signify anything specific. The second digit denotes the type of guitar (acoustic roundback, solidbody, ultra acoustic, etc). The third digit denoting bowl depth for acoustic electric models. And lastly, the fourth digit denotes the specific model (Balladeer, Deluxe Balladeer, Classic, Josh White, etc). The 1681-9 distinction would therefore mean this guitar is an Elite style acoustic/electric roundback Adamas model with a 6 1/16" bowl depth in a Balladeer design. After the dash, the last number indicates the color with "9" being a Brown finish.

Previously owned by a collector, this guitar has seen very little travel or wear over the years and would make for a great collectible and/or performance guitar!

As shown in the photos, the guitar is in great shape, but does have some apparent filing marks on the fret ends near the top of the neck. Additionally, the case has been punctured near the top of the headstock area, a separation of the binding edge around the exterior of the case, and the internal lid is loose from the body housing (see photos). None of the mentioned wear points have affected the guitar and plays beautifully!

Thank you for your consideration!
