The Baby Blue System (original version) was the head-only version of the Baby Blue Studio Reference Bass System, a high-end bass amp and a classic in its own right. It came housed in its own mini road case with a removable, protective lid and handle. Due to numerous requests, this amplifier was reintroduced in 1998 with the same specifications and a simplified protective case as the "Electric Blue II Bass Head". The original Electric Blue was designed and developed for the discerning professional bass player in need of a superior small bass head for studio and small venues.
From back in the days when SWR was a hand-built boutique USA amp, the precision electronic section is entirely hand-built by Steve W. Rabe of SWR and employs everything from vacuum tubes for the preamp section to discreet solid state components for the power amplifier. Each individual component was selected for reliability and accurate reproduction of the signals from both electric and acoustic instruments. Amazing sound studio quality preamp and DI.
The features were selected with an emphasis on studio applications and for use in live settings where a very true signal is needed. By using just the power switch and volume controls, I believe you will experience the cleanest and most transparent sound you have heard out of your instrument. The Aural Enhancer and Tone sections are designed to bring out the character of the individual musician and their instrument without altering or masking their inherent qualities and/or techniques.
Manufacturer's description:
This SWR is rugged and roadworthy. 120W RMS into 8 Ohm or 160W at 4 Ohm keep things plenty hot for all but the largest halls. 3-band semi-parametric EQ with bypass lets you dial in precisely the tone that gets your blood up. The original Electric Blue (including its amazing and famous preamp) and power amp clip LED, sidechain effects loop, effects bypass switch, plus balanced XLR record out with pad and ground lift make it pro power for stage and studio that you can carry in one hand. Headphone jack, tuner send, and unbalanced line out.
