KENWOOD KP-7010:
A rare and handsome "Golden Era" direct drive turntable!
Item Description
The Kenwood KP-7010, released in Japan in 1988 during the "Golden Era" of Japanese audiophile equipment, is a high-quality and critically-acclaimed direct drive turntable. The KP-7010 features the innovative DL (Dynamic Center Lock) motor system, the world's first precision rotation mechanism that uses the pressure of the lubricating fluid to lock the spindle to the absolute center point of its rotation with high accuracy, thereby obtaining excellent wow and flutter performance. Moreover, this mechanism prevents wear in this part of the unit, increasing longevity of the turntable. Another salient feature is the die-cast aluminum frame, which isolates the needle and tonearm from vibrational coupling from the air, plinth, ground, and so on. The sound quality is superb, and the KP-7010 has some impressive stats, including an SNR of 85dB (DIN-B) and wow and flutter of <0.008% (FG direct reading method). In addition to its high-fidelity Kenwood heritage, the KP-7010 features a design that is both precise and solid. In recent years, Kenwood turntables from this era have been getting more and more attention, by virtue of their excellent quality of sound reproduction and build quality.
This turntable is in Very Good condition, with some aging (please see photos), including some scratches and scuffs. The dust cover has some scratches (please see dust cover policy below). This turntable has been thoroughly checked and tested by our professional technician, confirming its flawless operation. Both 33 and 45 settings work perfectly, and the platter rotation is like clockwork.
