I am offering a Paul Reed Smith S2 Singlecut Semi-Hollow from 2016, the semi-acoustic US version of the PRS Workhorse with a cutaway, semi-hollow mahogany body, beautifully figured asymmetrical bevel carved flame maple top with F-hole, set mahogany neck with regular pattern neck profile and 42mm nut width, fine rosewood fingerboard with PRS Birds inlays, versatile HH pickup set consisting of two PRS S2 #7 humbucker pickups incl. Push/pull coil split function in the respective tone controls, PRS #7 “S” wraparound stoptail bridge and PRS Low Mass Locking tuners in a beautiful Elephant Grey high-gloss finish in excellent condition including PRS Premium gig bag and professional setup with 10-gauge Ernie Ball strings.
In the context of the introduction of the low-priced SE, which is manufactured in South Korea / China with an astonishing level of quality, the S2 - here represented by a Singlecut Semi-Hollow - manufactured in Stevensville / Maryland is intended, like its sisters, to close the enormous price gap between the inexpensive Far East production and the core models. Whatever you think of it, the S2 line also features the unmistakably high quality of workmanship that PRS is known for. This is made possible by the use of somewhat simpler woods and components, but the signature of Paul Reed Smith remains unmistakable.
In terms of sound, the pair of PRS S2 #7 humbuckers enables an extremely versatile HH setup with the full range of sound options for which PRS is notorious: whether it's punchy, warm rhythm harmonies, singing, sustaing lead passages à la Carlos Santana or crystal-clear clean sounds with that airy semi-acoustic timbre - this guitar simply covers everything. Thanks to the push/pull coil splits built into the respective tone controls, this guitar can also authentically reproduce slimmed-down, lively singlecoil sounds with plenty of dynamic reponse. With its wide range of tone combinations, this guitar covers most genres very reliably and the instrument is an absolute beast both live and in the studio!
A sound sample of the model (only in a different color version) can be found at the end of the photo gallery above.
With the PRS Regular Pattern neck profile, the 42mm nut width and the 635mm scale length, the guitar is - typically PRS - a lot of fun to play. Lightweight PRS Low Mass Locking tuners and a fine rosewood fingerboard ensure incredible tuning stability as well as more warmth and depth in the tone.
If you're looking for a genuine US semi-hollow PRS at a reasonable price with maximum sound variability and playability, you can't go past this guitar: Made in the USA with high-end hardware and sophisticated electronics, this guitar offers tonal perfection with fantastic playability and an eye-catching look.
