An alternate Fender concept of a mid-1960s Telecaster Custom, combined with some non-traditional elements aimed at players who crave a wider tonal palette than a traditional vintage Tele offers. The most obvious pointer is the reverse-angle bridge pickup which on a normal Telecaster, the bridge pickup is slanted so the treble strings sit closer to the bridge which on this particular model, the angle is reversed.

This changes the character:

• Treble strings become slightly fuller, less brittle.
• Bass strings gain more grit and character.
• Distorted tones become fuller and more balanced.
• It moves the guitar slightly away from the classic country Tele ranch and closer to the rock and blues of Sunset Strip.

Another major feature is the HS pickup configuration:

• Bridge: Custom Shop hand-wound Loaded '51 Nocaster single coil.
• Neck: Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N humbucker.

This pickup relationship offers:

• Authentic Tele twang at the bridge,
• Warm PAF-style neck sounds,

The Large C neck is noticeably fuller than a modern American Professional Tele neck but not quite as consuming as some early-'50s "baseball bat" profiles.

The compound radius is a useful upgrade too:

• 7.25" feel in lower positions retains vintage comfort for chords.
• Flatter 9.5" upper register makes bends easier.
