This is a rehouse of a Behringer SF-300 Super Fuzz, which itself is a clone of the Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz, which itself was an adaptation of the vintage Univox Super Fuzz.
I will trust you know what this thing does and why it is so revered by doomers and stoner rocker types.
Huge wall of sound fuzz effects, with a variety of modes.
So whats different with this one? Well for starters I have put it in a lovely chunky Hammond Die Cast case, finished in powder coated purple. The graphics are hand applied with some mis-print, its not worn, this is just how the print transferred but I think it adds to the vintage vibe. Under the hood is where the magic really is:
1 - True bypass via industry standard 3PDT switching with bright 5mm LED indicator. This removes the "flip flop" electronic switching and buffering which some people arent so keen on.
2 - Ability to switch on and off the searing high octave part of the fuzz. This now gives you two flavours for each of the fuzz modes.
3 - Added a new mode! The rotary switch picks between Hump (Fuzz 1), Scoop (Fuzz 2) and Boost modes which are classic, but adds the infamous "secret" mode which blends Fuzz 1 and 2 together without the need to balancing a switch between two positions.
4 - Made the boost mode actually useable. Rather than the original setup of only the gain and tone controls working in boost mode, I have reinstated the master volume control so the boost is actually controllable in volume. All the original sounds are the same - if you want those just put the volume at maximum (!) and warn your neighbours as its LOUD
The PCB is well supported by three bolt retaining standoffs and all wiring and additonal parts are of good quality.
The vibe is finished off with five chicken head knobs.
Open to offers, a lot of hours went into this both in desoldering all the shitty Behringer parts and replacing with quality Alpha pots and switches etc as well as researching the bypass circuitry and other mods mentioned above.
Images include a video I made mostly to highlight the mods
Cheers!
