Joe Meek Voice Channel - The Brick
Original Fletcher ElectroAcoustics JOEMEEK Voice Channel V1.02, made in England. This is the early non-rackmount Voice Channel, often known as the “Brick”.
The Voice Channel combines a transformer-coupled microphone preamp with phantom power, the original Joemeek photo-optical compressor and the enhancer circuit in one recording channel. There is also a separate line input, insert point, mix input and two line outputs. The compressor provides the two original compression modes together with variable attack, release and compression amount.
The unit is in used cosmetic condition and is fully functional. Funny detail on this one is the inscription on the top (see photo). It was given as a gift from Henny (?) to John Kriek, a well known Dutch audio professional who worked a/o with Golden Earring.
