Cosmetic Condition

This instrument shows significant signs of use and age, all of which I have chosen to leave clearly visible in the photographs.

The original lacquer is heavily worn in several areas, with scratches, abrasions, discoloration and numerous signs of use. There is also patina and surface oxidation, including some areas of greenish discoloration typical of aged brass.

The silver/nickel-plated parts also show considerable wear, and the mouthpiece has obvious signs of previous use.

Despite its well-used appearance, I do not see any major dents or obvious structural deformation of the bell in the photographs.

Mechanical Condition

I am not a brass instrument technician and the instrument has not been professionally serviced or inspected by me.

For this reason, I do not want to claim that the slide, rotary valve/F attachment, compression or overall playing condition are perfect without a proper inspection by a trombone technician or experienced player.

The instrument is therefore being sold as-is, in its current condition and exactly as shown in the photographs.

Please carefully examine all photographs, as they are an important part of the description and show both the strengths and cosmetic defects of the instrument.

Why This Trombone Is Interesting

A vintage Elkhart Bach Stradivarius Model 42 is a historically interesting professional instrument and can be appealing to both players and collectors.

What makes this particular example interesting is its age and natural patina. It has not been cosmetically restored or refinished, and retains the appearance and signs of use accumulated over many years.
