Vintage Gretsch G-4153 1970s USA custom

Gretsch USA Custom model G-4153 snare drum, manufactured in the USA during the 1970s.

14”×6.5” 6-ply maple shell, 8-lug separate lugs, internal muffler. Wine red grain finish.

All original hardware excluding the top and bottom drumheads.

Please review the condition details below:

All chrome-plated hardware including lugs, hoops and snare strainer shows dulling and chrome pitting. Minor surface rust can be found on tension rods and nuts.

The batter head is a US-made Remo Renaissance head. Both batter and resonant heads display noticeable wear. Buyers seeking perfect heads may wish to replace them.

Small dings and light scratches are present on the red exterior finish; there is no major damage. Bearing edges remain smooth with no cracks or severe impacts.

The interior features Gretsch’s original silver anti-corrosion coating. Factory finish application from this era is comparatively rough, which is characteristic of original vintage production.

Several tension rods are non-original, differing slightly in length and style from factory hardware.

The resonant side shell features an integrated snappy bed at the snare gate.

The top hoop appears slightly uneven when fully loosened, but sits correctly once tensioned and does not affect performance.

Considering this is a vintage instrument approximately 50 years old, functionality and overall condition remain solid with no operational issues.
