About this listing
A highly desirable discontinued vintage reissue, this 1997 Rickenbacker 4001V63 recreates the clean styling and distinctive appointments of the early-1960s Rickenbacker 4001S-style basses that helped establish the company's place in rock history. Finished in classic Mapleglo, the 4001V63 features Rickenbacker's signature neck-through construction with an unbound body, dot-inlaid rosewood fingerboard, and vintage-style hardware. The stripped-down aesthetic sets the V63 apart from the more ornate bound 4001 and 4003 models while closely recalling some of Rickenbacker's most celebrated early basses. A major part of the V63's appeal is its vintage-inspired pickup configuration. It pairs a toaster-style neck pickup with Rickenbacker's distinctive horseshoe-style bridge pickup assembly, delivering the articulate attack, upper-midrange presence, sustain, and unmistakable character associated with classic Rickenbacker bass tones. The 4001V63 has been discontinued for many years and has developed a strong following of its own. Its combination of vintage appointments, horseshoe-style pickup, classic construction, and comparatively limited availability makes it particularly attractive to both players and Rickenbacker collectors. This 1997 example is finished in natural Mapleglo and includes its original hardshell case.
