Collings D1A Adirondack Mahogany 2013The 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar in the world, and while Collings is certainly not the only company building them, they bring a level of clarity, depth, and warmth that is rarely associated with a guitar of this size and depth. While the strong bass response makes it ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings dreadnoughts are also a favorite among bluegrass flatpickers who need to compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. Although the bass response makes this dreadnought perfect for accompanying vocals, a Collings dreadnought is guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning bluegrass flatpicker.The Collings D1A is built with an Adirondack spruce top rather than Sitka spruce, making it a true bluegrass machine. Adirondack spruce offers greater volume, increased dynamic range, and more clarity than Sitka, projecting with tremendous power. These pre-war characteristics give the instrument additional headroom across the entire tonal spectrum, making it both impressive to behold and exhilarating to play.This Collings was built in 2013 and is in very good condition. The guitar has minimal playing marks and dings on the top, along with buckle wear on the back of the body. There is also a little chip in the wood on the back of the headstock.
