At the heart of THE COLLEXION is a bespoke 30mm carbon composite driver co-tuned with renowned mastering engineers. The driver uses a soft edge and hard center construction engineered to deliver an exceptionally wide, detailed, and transparent frequency response with precise instrument separation and a spacious soundstage that reveals the artist's intention in every recording. Premium internal components reinforce that pursuit of sound purity: gold-containing solder improves signal-to-noise ratio for finer detail retrieval and wider staging, while a low-phase noise crystal oscillator optimizes sound processing for reduced jitter and cleaner signal integrity. The result is a more refined, mature, and detail-oriented sound signature compared to the punchier, more flavored personality of the WH-1000XM6.

This is the first Sony headphone to feature DSEE Ultimate — Sony's most advanced Edge-AI upscaling technology, previously exclusive to their Walkman players and premium home audio. DSEE Ultimate restores acoustic subtleties and dynamic range lost during compression, making streamed and compressed tracks sound fuller, more detailed, and more expressive. Three 360 Upmix modes expand stereo content into immersive spatial experiences: 360 Music Upmix for wider musical staging, 360 Cinema Upmix for cinematic immersion when watching movies, and 360 Game Upmix for spatial gaming audio.
