- Greetings, this is a BLACK FINISH thick cast bronze shell weighing in at 18lbs (just the shell). Super sensitive, awesome ring, surisingly "bigger" sounding than its size. Fantastic sound and condition.
- One of a kind find
- LIKE NEW-You won't find this drum, let alone in this condition.
During the 1990s Clevelander Percussion was a prominent producer of high end orchestral gear, mostly snare drums, mallets, and tympani. It seems to have disappeared since then, but up for sale is one their top-of-the-line snare drums, crafted from 1/4 inch thick solid brass. I am the FIRST AND ONLY owner, and bought it in 2001.
RARER THAN THE PLAGUE!
This drum is incredibly clear, musical and focused at any volume level. It weighs over twenty pounds, but speaks at the lightest touch. It will cut through anything, and never seems to run out of headroom. A strike in the center is exceptionally dry, while a strike at the border between the middle and outer third produces an exceptionally resonant, ringy sound, so the drum makes available a very wide range of timbres at all times.
The craftsmanship of the shell is extremely precise.
If you're looking for a super-heavyweight snare in the vein of Tama, Keplinger, Sonor or DW, this is at least or beyond the equal of those.
