1966 Gibson Melody Maker D – Pelham Blue
We present an all original 1966 Gibson Melody Maker D in its original Pelham Blue finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Condition
It’s in great shape, with some nicks, dings, finish checking, and other cosmetic wear. No breaks or repairs! It features a one-piece mahogany neck and a one-piece mahogany body, which gives it a rich, full tone. The two single-coil pickups are sensitive and well-balanced.
The original Pelham Blue finish remains a strong blue with some greenish fading. Overall, this is a fantastic 1966 Gibson solid-body electric guitar, featuring a full-sized neck and scale length. It plays beautifully and looks stunning in its rare Pelham Blue finish. The SG-style Melody Maker has a comfortable, rounded neck with a rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays.
Originality
This fantastic ’66 Melody Maker D is 100% original throughout – just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1966. We have removed the original vibrola-system, to improve the overall playability and improving the intonation and action of the guitar. No modifications have been made whatsoever; simply loosen a screw to attach or remove the vibrola system. The original vibrola system is of course included with the guitar, so you are free to reinstall it if you prefer.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and 100% correct.
Comes complete with its original Gibson chipboard case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
