All controls are now at your fingertips – their “resistance curves” have been designed and manufactured expressly for the AP5 PRO.

As a result, the bass, treble, and mid-range are now more “linear” in feel. The FQ (mid sweep) goes down lower and has a wider frequency band (600Hz to 2.4kHz ) to give greater control when targeting your specific sound.

Tighter components

Miniature surface mount components allow the preamp to be placed on one PCB, making the complete system smaller and less prone to hum and noise pickup.

The rigidity of this smaller PCB means it’s less prone to develop problems with ageing. Because it’s bolted into position in the casing, the whole assembly is less likely to develop rattles with the constant movement and shipping expected of a performing musician’s instrument.

At a glance

The AP5 has been held in the highest regard for over a decade by players all over the world. It was with this in mind that we began development of its successor.

Better sound quality

Clarity and fidelity of studio-quality sound in a live setting with Maton's AP5 Pro pickup system.

Linear feel to the controls

Effortlessly adjust volume, tone, and EQ settings, empowering you to fine-tune your acoustic sound.

Expanded mid-sweep range

Covering from 600Hz to 2400Hz ensuring your guitar's mid-range shines through with clarity.

New microphone system

Our updated mic system boasts unmatched definition in tonality and simplifies usability.

Battery upgrade

Battery choice is 2 x AA batteries, why? Energy density. Two AA batteries have almost twice the stored energy of a 9-volt for approximately the same space requirement, therefore giving the performer a much longer operational life before battery change.

The AP5 PRO also has improved battery terminals – both terminals are identical and now made from phosphor bronze – the same material used in ship propellers. It’s extremely corrosion resistant so should the batteries develop a leak the terminals can be easily cleaned to restore them to “as new” operation.
