For sale is my Viking M60 Valkyrie Legend Series alto saxophone featuring the standard cognac lacquer.

These instruments punch well above their class for a horn from a lesser-known Taiwanese company - l have found them to be on par with the P. Mauriats and Eastmans that I have tried in the past. This horn got me through all of my high school shows and my first year of conservatory; it has served me well. I am selling it as I switched to a Selmer Mark VI a little while back and haven't had much use for it since. Overall, the horn is in great shape — there is just some slight cosmetic wear on some of the keys (palm keys and pinky tables), key guards, thumb rests, and rods. I had it serviced a few months ago by Emile Catricala and, apart from a few notes, it hasn't been played since.

The horn comes with the original case. I'm asking $1,450, but am open to offers. Feel free to message me with any questions! I'm happy to do local pickup around the NY Capital Region or to ship it.

Some videos and more info:

From the manufacturer:

"For years, most players have put a saxophone's core sound into two types: the Selmer focused sound and the Conn big, spread sound. Players always wanted that core, the structure, the focus of the Selmer while also craving the big, fat, and powerful Conn sound.

What if there was a horn that combined the two?

"We believe the Viking M60 Valkyrie is that saxophone.

This horn uses a different bore and geometry than our other models, and perfectly combines that Selmer focus and structure with the warm, resonant spread of the Conn school. This creates a unique playing experience unlike anything available on the market today.

"The M60 Valkyrie features a medium focus, while remaining incredibly warm, resonant, and is more spread than our other models. This may sound confusing but it is slightly focused while still remaining fat sounding. The resonance has structure, core, and an incredible deep richness that we feel surpasses almost any saxophone made today. Intonation is outstanding up and down the range of the horn.

"This horn features Pisoni pro pads installed with shellac (not pad glue) for a better feel to the action, has a two-point body brace similar to vintage Selmers, a wire BA-style neck octave mechanism, and absolutely gorgeous "portrait style" engraving. Our Cognac lacquer M60 has the engraving cut through the lacquer and the contrast is simply stunning. It is also available in an un lacquered model with silver accents."
