Definitely one of Gibson's best decisions was the reintroduction of the Gibson SG Custom in a Walnut finish, with a white pickguard, chrome hardware, and three pickups. Irresistible. Today we want to present this incredible 1968 example in excellent condition, both aesthetically and functionally, with just the right amount of relicing. The guitar has had just a few owners in the last 57 years, which is evident in the even wear on the pickup covers. The serial number dates it to 1969, and 1968 is reflected in the specs, such as the lack of a volute, a one-piece mahogany neck, and no 'Made in USA' stamp. This guitar has a spectacular feel, with a nice medium size neck and just the right depth. Its 3 Pat. # stickered pickups project a warm sound with perfect clarity. Good bass in the neck and defined treble in the bridge. Its white pearl block inlaid Ebony fingerboard & cool headstock overlay are top line traits. This example usually came from the factory not with Gold hardware, but with factory Chrome parts. She is wearing a set of double line/metal button Kluson Deluxe tuners that could be period correct (but may have worn a set of Deluxe ribbed back tuners originally) & 4 Witch Hat volume & tone knobs. Its original large white pickgard is quite clean & its long Maestro Vibrato finishes her off nicely. She's excellent overall, a featherweight under 7 lbs. & comes in its original black tolex/yellow lined square hard case.
