For sale is a rare vintage Pioneer RT-707 1/4" 4-Track Stereo Reel-to-Reel Tape Deck. It powers up and works and plays tape, but has some issues. We are not reel to reel tape machine specialists, our basic quick assessment is as follows:
- Tape counter doesn't work
- Capstan motor was seized, but eventually started pulling tape
- Pinch rollers are hardened
- Speed is inconsistent
- Good bones, but could use a restoration
- Plays, records, FFd's, and Rewd's
- Capstan struggles (stops spinning) when switching speeds
