Hello everyone, this is a gorgeous 1935 Selmer Balanced Action baritone saxophone. The serial number is 21067. The lacquer is original, and is a beautiful golden color. The engraving is spectacular, and features a cabin and a lake. This is an extremely rare saxophone, and has been maintained very well by a professional player. It has a huge and powerful tone. It has a larger bore than an SBA and Mark VI, so the tone is massive. It reminds me of a mix between a Conn 12M and a Selmer SBA.
The horn was overhauled several years ago by a NY pro, and hasn’t been played much since. It hasn’t been played much during the past couple years, so it will need minor adjustments by the next owner. It has the original neck. It has what could be the original metal domed resonators. The horn shows a couple minor repairs, and one dent on the body (which can be removed) located near the neck-strap ring. It comes in a protec case.
Balanced action baritones are extremely rare. When you can find one, they’re usually relacquered, or badly worn. This is the nicest balanced action baritone I’ve ever played or seen. This is a fantastic investment and wonderful playing horn. Thank you for looking.
